NWI Lions United become the first ever youth club to affiliate with Midwest Select SA.

CROWN POINT, In. (March 31st , 2022) - Midwest Select SA and NWI Lions United announced today a youth affiliation to assist in the development of the players as both athletes and community members.
The partnership between the Muskrats and Lions was established to align with the club’s mission statement:
“Northwest Indiana Lions United are dedicated to providing the best soccer training in Northwest Indiana, and giving every player a unique opportunity to experience the world's most popular game. Our club is committed to offering every player the opportunity to play at the highest level that they are capable of. We are dedicated to creating an environment that not only allows the players to become successful soccer players but also to become important parts of society. We will do this by teaching the technical, tactical, physical and psychological side of the game whilst always instilling respect, integrity and honesty.”

The partnership fulfills that mission by doing the following:

  • Creating more opportunities for our athletes to be in and around players at the next level.
  • Continue to be at forefront in the growing the women’s game in Northwest Indiana
  • Provides a direct pathway for young athletes of the region to make the jump to the pre-professional game.
  • Discounted prices for entry to games and camps
  • Opportunities for players to be involved in the game day experience by being being ball girls / ball boys.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to establish Midwest Select SA as an integral part of the women’s game in our region,” said MSSA Owner and General Manager Jamie McNicholas. “For years, Lions has been a leader in the growth of the women’s game in Northwest Indiana and have produced not only great players, but individuals that want to give back to their community and the sport, in general.”
Mike Rance, Director of Coaching at NWI Lions United, had this to say about the partnership: “We are excited to partner with Midwest Select SA to be able to continue to offer our players more steps in their soccer pathway. It is exciting to have an opportunity like this available in Northwest Indiana. With the hard work and preparation Jamie and his staff are putting into their program, they are going to create a competitive environment that we are excited to be a part of. For our female players this will create more opportunities to be in and around players at the next level and we hope that many of them have the chance to represent Midwest Select SA in the future just like the former 13 Lions players in their inaugural roster.”
